I was browsing around a lumberyard this Saturday and saw a good deal. It was a Delta 10″ portable Bench saw for $125 buck brand new. It was their shelf model and since Delta recently changed the sticker job on these saws they are getting rid of the old one. OUt of box, no manual but not a scratch on it. I figured it would be a good cheap saw to keep on the truck and let the guys use. I have a 10″ Contractor’s saw and that stays in the shop. Well I realize that you get what you pay for, but the blade is about 3/16ths of a inch out of square in relation to the fence and table. You’d need a taper jig to get a decent cut with the thing. I don’t have a manual and can’t figure out how to true this thing up. Obviously, the blade is attatched directly to the motor, do I just bend the thing around or is there actually a way to square the thing up? Any help out there?
Of course I could probably contact Delta, but I’d like to fix it within the next month of two!

I think you'll find adjustment screws on the table top. Good luck, and don't try ripping much more than 5/4 stock unless you like the smell of an electric fire!
I have had one of those Delta bench saws for several years and mine is worthless for anything thicker than 1x material. If you try to cut anything thicker that is longer than about 2 ft. the motor reset button will pop out, and you must wait for it to cool down to continue. The saw will probably soon be sold at a garage sale and replaced with something with some guts. Does onyone have suggestions of good brands? Thanks.
i like the new PC.. i liked it better than the bosch... and it's about a $100 less....more portable tooMike Smith Rhode Island : Design / Build / Repair / Restore
I bought one of the portable Delta saws about four years ago. It took about an hour to set it up and get it tuned to make acceptable cuts and about ten days for the motor to die. Thinking I just got a lemon I return it to Lowes for another one. Only took me 45 min. to set that one up. Motor on it was fried right out of the box. It went back to Lowes, I got my money back and bought a Craftsman contractor model.TCW Specialists in Custom Remodeling.
I picked up a Delta about five years ago.....still runs !!!! But from the beginning it was wimpy so I dropped the blade size down to 7-1/4" or an 8" and primarily cut ply, trim and 1x's. Oak 1x's or regular 2x SYP tax the saws capacity.
When it goes..............its gone.
The back-up is already in action............a Bosch, Quite impressive.

Every tabletop Delta device I have has been crap, miter box, tablesaws, jointer, all unequivocable crap. I also have a Delta unisaw and 14"bandsaw, these are tools and I love 'em...I stay away from their portable stuff...
Have to agree with you BB. If it is made by D.elta and you don't need a mobile base to move it, don't buy it!
