Has anyone out there used the new Delta 36-225 compound miter saw. I’m in the market for a new saw, my old one is a 20 year old Dewalt which has served me well but has seen better days. I’ve been reading through the topics and alot of people seem to think that the delta miter saws are junk. I certainly don’t want to spend my hard earned cash on junk so any feed back will be helpful.

Ccowboy Bob: I don't know model numbers, but if that is the current 12" Delta do yourself a big favor and do not buy it. My friend has one and it is in every respect inferior to my DeWalt. Its louder, the table insert blew out immediately, and the fence broke on a little kickback that wouldn't have bothered most saws. Check through these other threads and you'll see I'm not alone in my opinion.
*Bob:I have owned the 12-inch Delta compound miter saw for over a year and it has worked great for thousands of cuts. No problems at all. I've used it for finish material and framing lumber.
*I'm sure you've seen my posts on the other thread. I don't know about model #s either, but Delta is due to make this thing better. Might be worth a look, but Lonecat is right about the DeWalt. It's an excellent saw. Delta would have to really improve their old saw to get into the same league.MD
*Thanks for the advice on the miter saw. I'm kind of leary buying a saw with a 12in blade that won't fit my radial arm saw. I think I'm going to keep using my 20yr old Dewalt and wait and see what comes out in the new year. I'll also keep reading this forum for feed back from other professionals. Thanks Alot Cowboy Bob
