I like denim work shirts. Decent ones are hard to find and expensive. Stopped by Sears(no work clothes at J.C Penny’s anymore). $20/ea. for Craftsman, OK, give me 2. Rang up as $10/ea.; make that 5. Save money on shirts, add to tool allowance.

Any exterior logos on that deal?
twice a year I hit Goodwill and the Red, White Blue Thrift Store.
I stock up on work shirts.
Last time before winter I got about 8 slightly used or brand new still with tags very nice denim shirts for work.
They usually run $3 to $4 each.
Might be time to hit them up for summer work shorts again.
I buy in bulk ... always go in for just one time ... shorts, shorts, hoodies, etc.
then I find the right rack and take pretty much each one that'll fit ... of snag up the best of their bunch.
Last time, after buying a "new" light wind breaker jacket for work ...
went in for one ... walked out with 3 ...
told the wife if's funny but I have better luck finding what I want there than in a department store. Looked for a week in stored for the jacket ...
went there ... they had one exactly what I wanted ... and 2 real close.
spent around $20.
the wind breaker ... it's a Nautica golf jacket
outta curiousity I just went to the Nautica website ...
they have one similar to the one I got for $110.
Pretty sure I paid $7.
No Tags ... but brand new condition.
wow.

I thrift shop for my work dudst too. I figure I save about $100 over buying my standard 5 day turnover, which I do maybe every 3 months or so, depending on how much paiting I do. ~ Ted W ~

What Buck said. I got a 3 piece Pierre Cardin blue pin strip at Salvation Army for $15. A Harris Tweed for $8. These things were like new and looked tailored to fit.
When I know I'm going to be doing something dirty like plastering, I get me duds there.
Hey....I'm not proud and could care less.
I also have tee-shirts with my name on, but that's for cleaner stuff.
Salvation Army & Thrift stores. Check it out.
I got hooked on saving clothes money when we had the first kid.
Was doing a ton of work in a wealthy suburb ... and alot of good lunch fast food and the beer distributor was in the same plaza as a childrens resale shop.
walked in one lunch time and as amazed ... same stuff we were buying for the kid ...
and nicer brand name stuff we'd got as gifts ... was all there ... brand new condition ... for $2 and $3 a piece.
Been loading the kid up ever since. Both kids wear all expensive brand name stuff ... none of which had cost mre than $10 for any one item.
Coupla years ago I needed some more sweatshirts ... I went out and priced hoodies ... I was also gonna hit the resale shop for the kids that day too. Decided after the kids resale shop I'd check out the local thift store for my winter work gear.
Found stuff I liked much better at pennies on the dollar.
I'm not too proud either ... I'd rather wear a $3 sweatshirt to work and drink a case of $80 beer!

shopping Goodwill is like a treasure hunt. Lots of fun when you find a good deal. Not always what you are looking for, and the 36" pants get mixed in with the 34" pants. There is a bit of the trill of the hunt looking for clothes in there.I am more particular about my pants and they are harder to find right size, but shirts - I have almost always worn used from there, or from yard sales.

We have a Salvation Army Store here that you would drool over. Rows & rows of used clothing. I get all my white button down shirts there for plastering, and I wear them with bleached white bib coveralls with a newsy cap to boot. It's very old fashioned, but people like it. There's a couple of other stores across the river that I've heard rival this one, but why go outa my way? My parents, who were teens during the Great Depression, instilled that frugality in me. I like quality though.
Jer,
"It's very old fashioned" is now more fashionably called "retro" and yes people do really like it.
Ah....I see. Well, it just shows to go ya I didn't even know that, THAT'S how "retro" I am.
I've got 5 older brothers, hand me downs are nothing new. Yard sales, etc. great for kids stuff. Never had much luck with thrift stores except once decades ago, just out of jail, got a Brooks Bros. suit for $10. Nice suit; helped me get a job.
I like Sears for work wear. They have Levi's 550 work wear jeans that are really comfortable and indestructible, I've been wearing the same pair at least 1 or 2 days a week for 2 years and it's just now getting to where I'm thinking about buying a few replacement pairs. I like Carhartt work shorts a lot for spring and summer, pretty much wear them every day.
For work shirts I head over to one of the many conventions that are in my area and load up on free logo'ed t-shirts. Add a few hoodies and 1 or 2 collar shirts for business and my wardrobe is complete.
I seem to go through work boots more frequently than any article of clothing.
