Anyone have experience with Georgia-Pacific’s Dens-Shield Tile Backer material and how it compares with more traditional Cement Board products?

Kevin,
I've been using it for a while & love the stuff. MOst who try it do too. It cuts & snaps like drywall, weighs less than cement board & dosen't trash your hands. If you put a lot down you can find a draw back in the fiberglass. It'll make you itch like insulation if you cut a bunch of it so wear gloves & a long sleeve shirt.
I have only seen it in 1/2" & in this area is a little tough to find. The HQ stores have it in the small sizes but there are drywall houses that carry the 4x8 sheeets.
*Ditto to Rob's comments. I've used it on countertop and vertical surfaces, including shower surrounds, and it's great. It's a lot easier, quicker, and cleaner than either cement or Hardibacker.Clint Searl

Ditto on the previous comments. It's a little more expensive that the cement boards, but very easy to install. It was recommended to me by a very reputable tile installer and everything he said about it was true.

I agree with all of the previous posts. I have used Denshield for the past 3 years or so and find it much easire to work with than other backerboards. I have not used it in flooring applications as of yet and would appreciate any feedback as to that aspect of the product. I still prefer to float a floor but there is alot to be said for being able to lay cementboard and set the same day.

Bryon,
I have over 300' of it on my floor for the past 3 years in a 1910 4 square. Still looks like a profesional did it.
