Probalbly a dumb question, but does it take a special blower to blow cellulose “densely” (I’m not sure if the terminology is correct). I’m interested in covering exposed rafters with foamboard then 1X4 sleepers, and blow the cellulose in. Will the machines available at HD work, or do I need something different? What R factor can I achieve with the cellulose? Yes, I will be putting in air channels for ventilating the underside of the roof.
Thanks for any help.

most machines can do it as long as you can lean the mix down... any machine designed to blow walls should have a air/material gate for adjusting the material flow thru the hose...
ours is an old Hurricane blower (model 510 ) from the early '80's, originally made by US Fiber.... still made by Giesken in Ohio

We used a HD machine to dense pack walls and it worked fine with the gate open about a quarter. The one we hired was missing the gate so check yours when you get it. We made a gate from a piece of laminate.
