I’m looking for a designer to help me with remodeling plans on my house in Alexandria. Cape Cod style. Needs new bathrooms, kitchen, laundry room, and teardown some walls to change flow. I have a fairly good idea of what I want to do; I just need a pro to help with the details.
Any leads would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hey Ken,
I was given a lead on Home Equity Builders out of Great Falls. They have a website at http://www.hebinc.com . Maybe they can help.
I met Jeff Rainey of Home Equity at a NARI seminar I gave several months ago. Seems like a pretty knowledgeable guy- give him a call.

Thanks for the leads, guys. I'll definitely call him.
I also checked out the American Institute of Architects website, and the "Not so big house" website. Lots of names, but it's sort of like looking in the yellow pages (without the ads). Tough to know if the firm is one guy with a pencil and a pad of paper at his card table in the garage, or a multi-million dollar, commercial property architectural firm. The name "Joe Smith Architects and Associates" seems to have a very liberal connotation of the architect's emphasis and size.
I really appreciate the referals!
We used Commonwealth Remodelers a couple of years ago for our kitchen remodel (they do additions and such also) and were very pleased. It's a design/build husband and wife team. Wife is the architect, husband runs the business end.
