A friend of mine and I are framing an addition yesterday and needed to bevel-rip a 2×10 at 60 degrees for whatever reason. He whips out his brand new DeWalt 36V circ. I laugh and say,
“Okay, you’re gonna bevel-rip a 16′ 2×10 on edge with a battery powered saw. If you pull this off, I’m throwing my worm-drive off the side of this hill and never using a corded tool again. Go for it, guy!”
He made it about 14′ before the battery crapped out. This battery had been used all day and hadn’t been charged since he initially got it. Impressive.
I’m not a fan of yellow tools, but, wow. The batteries are big but don’t weigh any more than common 18v. They could be on to something.

I saw them at some store the other day. I thought the hammer drill was kind of overkill but it makes sense for a circ saw. I was wondering how it would hold up. I was impressed with the weight of the batteries, even though they are pretty big as you say. Hefty price tag, too.
ya they are pricey and very heavy i am sure they will release new 18V ions in the next two months.
IMHO, I think the Dewalts are just way too heavy to use all day. The Milwaukees too. The 18v Liion Makitas don't look too bad though. Price is scary.
I prefer to balance power and weight. I would rather have a lighter tool that is less powerful but easier to stick in my pouch.
