I came across the Dewalt 34 degrees framing nailer #D51825 at $100 off so I’m tempted to buy it. I usually don’t do a lot of framing as I’m mostly into other types of carpentry. I have a chance at a new job soon with a contractor doing a house from the foundation right to the last coat of paint so I was thinking of getting a good compressor and framing gun.
My local hardware store has a Dewalt 15 gallon compressor “on sale” for $380, so I have that on my mind to buy as well.
Have any of you guys used the Dewalt framing nailers? If so, what is your honest opinion on the ones you’ve used?
Are the Dewalt compressors reliable enough?
Is a 15 gallon compressor enough to do framing?
Thanks kindly

Point to bear in mind is that 34 dg strip nails are not that common on jobs. In fact, I have never seen any other than my Paslode ammo. Are you going to supply your own nails?
The 21 dg plastic collated is all I see out here in SoCal. (I will look harder.) Check what the stores are stocking. That is what is selling.
We have a DeWalt/Emglo wheelbarrow compressor and like it a lot. Yes, 15g is sufficient. For one gun, overkill. You can run a crew off that.
I have never used the DeWalt guns. I have the Senco, the SuperMax and the Bostitch.

This one goes out most every day. It will do metal connector nails in the single shot mode and .168 dia. nails. I like it. Bought a reconditioned model. I keep it set up for single shot as our work does not require firing lots of nails in a hurry. If we are doing that sort of job, the Max comes out.

Actually my local hardware store only stocks 34 degree nail strips, but they will order in others.
Weve been using that same dewalt gun pretty hard for over a year. I find it lighter and more compact than a lot of others Ive used. After using it for this long Im am a fan and would recomend it to anyone. No problems have come up yet.
15 gal compressor? You can run a whole crew off that. A twin tank 4 gal will handle all you need. Ive never used a dewalt compressor so cant really comment on their reliabilty.

I like this one,
NEW from DeWalt
THE 16-D RAPIDFIRE
A new Nail Gun, made by Dewalt, has just been introduced. It can drive a 16-D nail through a 2 X 4 at 200 yards. This makes construction a breeze, you can sit in your lawn chair and build a fence. Just get your wife to hold the fence boards in place while you sit back, relax with a cold drink and when she has the board in the right place, just fire away. With the hundred round magazine, you can build the fence with a minimum of reloading. After a day of fence building with the new Dewalt Rapid fire nail gun, the wife will not ask you to build or fix anything else again

Only 21^ nails around here. Must be a West Coast thing.
I use a Porter Cable FR350 Mag. Shoots 3 1/2" .162 until the wood splits.
Most nailers I've used work fine. The Senco shoots plastic bits in your face if you like pain.
