buy a new slider at lowes and they will give you one
Better yet leave the Dewalt stand and go pick up one of the ridgit(?) ATV type stands from HD. I'm telling you that thing is really sweet

I just noticed it at HD yesterday for the same price. But it's too big, and the supports and stops stink.
Steve
i got a ryobi (sp) i think at HD a few years ago for $89 it's pretty sweet... i have it set up with my 12" dewalt for crown only.... well worth the price

I've got that cheap Ryobi too. It's nice and compact and the stops and extension arms are pretty solid. Plus it's got the suh-weeeeet number scales on the tubes! (Let me know if you figure out how those are supposed to mean anything.)Drawbacks are that it's a boat anchor and the stance on it is too narrow for a 12" slider. I wish they would've made it out of aluminum and splayed the feet just a little wider so it would take a big slider.I had an ancient dewalt one before this. It was just too long. Could never find a good place for it in the truck. Henley is now the proud owner of it. He straps it to the roof of his Subaru.Steve
No worries about this one it was a good deal. I will have to save up for the slider, meanwhile I will mount my 12" dewalt to the stand.
I am already familiar with the stand I use the bosses at work.Webby
Henley is now the proud owner of it. He straps it to the roof of his Subaru. No, I strap it to the roof with pride.
I have a couple of your shirts.
Now wait a minute.
I didn't mean it that way!
Yeah...sure...
What were we talking about?
Mmoogie's Harbor Freight saw stand.
That's right!
It and your subaru are up on somebody's roof....
i strap everything to the roof of my subaru :) my F350 sits... as the subaru motors on...
i'm pretty sure mine is aluminum... but i keep it set up in one place and i have all my stops screwed down for the crown i'm run'n... for the little i paid for it... i think the value is there

I saw that too.
But then I noticed that you have to buy the mounting brakets seperately.
At least that is the way I understood it to mean.
at $149 I was ready to get one.

That stand comes with mounting brackets - no question. They don't sell a stripped down version. They sell extra brackets for folks that own a couple saws they want to use the stand with.I have it - it's almost perfect for the price. lightweight and heavy duty.Re: the Ridgid stand - while it is a wonder of engineering, it's also heavy as a cow. The older one was about 85lbs by itself - the newer one is closer to 100lbs I think. The Ridgid stops/supports (old version) were very clunky to adjust.I've got my Dewalt stand hanging on the sheet goods rack of my trailer. I can reach over a pile of equipment to get it down to setup - not too many other stands take up so little rooms yet offer so much capacity.Yea, I've heard great things about the foldup one everyone loves - but those are like $4-500 for a setup. For $150, the Dewalt is a keeper.Julian
