I’ve got one of those sliding DeWalt miter saws that’s about two years old. I like it in general, BUT — the position of the dust pick-up is a complete joke. Sawdust is all over the jobsite in big, billowy clouds.
Does anyone have any experience with the newly designed pick-up? Does it work any better?
Does anyone know of an aftermarket solution to the problem?
Thanks,
Ragnar

no.
ragnar,
I also have a DW scms, and had the same gripe as you. Even with my vac hooked up to the dust port on the blade guard, there would be sawdust all over the place. I was in the local HD when it opened up back in January and saw a scms with the dust chute located behind the blade. WOW, I thought, somebody actually got an idea. I went to the local DW service center to try and get the part. They said I couldn't because it wouldn't work. I knew it would work so I got on DW web page, searched the parts schematics, found the part number, went back to the service center and ordered it. You can also buy the part directly on the web. Anyhoo, after using the new dust port, I am pleased. It does a better job of picking up dust, and was easy to install. I haven't hooked my vac up to the new port, need to find an adapter for my hose(read as been too lazy LOL). Hope this helps.
Thanks -- that does help alot. I knew the knew pick-up was out there, but just wasn't sure if it would work any better. After spending several hours making my own pick-ups with sheetmetal, I figured I was reinventing the wheel! ;)
I'll go to DeWalt online and see if I can find the part and order it.
Thanks again,
Ragnar
