diamond back toolbelts

dirtysanchez | Posted in General Discussion on November 16, 2006 03:50am

anyone ever ordered a set of their bags?

how long you had them?

how well have they held up?

thinkin of ordering a set but at 280.00 a pop want to know if they will last.

have a oxy leather set and their green nylon set and they have not held up that well. maybe two years on the leather and a year and a half for the nylons. i thought about cheaper bags and tried one and as soon as it broke in it ripped  where the belt passes through.

its not like i’m rough on them like trying to use them to help carry sheets of rock. (had a guy on my crew that would do that and they would fall off and damage the corner)

if no one has used them then what do you use?

    Greetings d,

This post, in response to your question, will bump the thread through the 'recent discussion' listing again.

Perhaps it will catch someone's attention that can help you with advice.

    Cheers

CCheck this out further, but I think they quit production due to health problems of the founder, and he has since passed on in this past year.

Hey guys, go to http://www.toolbelts.com  Andus Hale bought the rights from the late great Jim Skelton. They are being made again to the exact specs and with the same materials. I plan on ordering my set with in the next couple of weeks.

Andy, great web site nice to see that craftsmen who still care about the finished product are still around.

The owner did in fact pass away some time ago.  But his wife sold the business and they are back in production at this time.  There was a good year or so there where you couldn't get them, but they're up and running business as usual again.View Image

Sure.  I tend to keep tabs on them.  I've wanted a DiamondBack belt for about 6 years now and have yet to pull the trigger.  At one point I made the decision to go ahead and do it but when I called they had shut down production again as Jim was sick.  They had no idea at the time as to if and when production would start up again.

So I bought my set of Occi's.  That was about three years ago.  And while I like my Occi's very much...... the DB belt has haunted me like 'the one that got away' ever since.  Now that they're back in production I've decided to torture myself some more by droolling on their website just about weekly.View Image

I can see why you're waiting- they're some pricey tools belts

            but they do seem nice.

Get them you will like them had mine since 2000 and at this rate I will have them when I die except for the saw cut they look like new except faded and covered in construction adhesive and yellow glue

Best belt I have ever owned. 6 years and still going, not a hole to be found and more storage and pockets than your hips can hold. I say make the jump and buy one.

I've got a brand new set from last May.  They are a little deeper than my old Dbacks because I ordered the Ultimate Framer.  I'm not sure I like the deeper pockets, in fact I don't but it's not a big deal.  Here is a couple of pictures.

Here are a couple of cropped pics.  You can see in one of them I had a "this side down" sticker on my back.  Must have been there since we hung windows :-)

thanks a million.    Wifey says, not bad on price.  Considering I have spent $150.00 between two sets I dont like and they tear easy.

            Looks promising.

Do you know if they are preformed pockets on the nail side of things, or are they tight in the beginning?  Am I sayign what I am thinking?

we hang rock 6 days a week and mostly I guess its from hanging the screw gun on the sides and resting a sheet on it to get ready to flip it up. Then the knife and saw or maybe I am to rough on them. The bad thing is to buy a new pouch it takes a while to break in.
