I am looking for a new blade for my diamond saw. It’s a 14″ Stihl concrete saw. Does anybody know what is a good blade to put on this saw? Is wet or dry better? Is segmented or continuos rim better? I don’t use the saw every day so I don’t want to spend a fortune on the blade. Any help would be helpful.
PS. I bought the saw used on ebay, 400.00. Great saw for the money

Well, I used to be a labor for a residential bricklayer (who happened to be my father) I worked with the saw you are talking about and I remember all the problems we had with diamond blades. We used a segmented dry blade because we needed it to be as portable and quick as possible. The blade you buy will depend on what you are going to be using it for. Our situation was for typical use, but if you are cutting hard stone or ferrous brick (flecks of iron ore) a little garden hose doesn't hurt. Keeps the dust down too. If you decide to go with the dry blade, make sure the muffler outlet is screened and cleaned. nothing kills a high speed motor faster than concrete or brick dust.

I have an 8hp walk behind saw that takes a 14" blade. What are you going to be cutting with it? I always buy the wet/dry segmented blades and get LOTS of life out of them, i never cut dry though, its dusty, easy to warp the blade, as well as the blade wears out too fast cutting dry. I mostly use my saw for relief cutting concrete that was poured the previous day, but often use it for cutting back asphalt or old concrete driveways and sidewalks. I've bought no-name brands, as well as Hilti, and had good luck with both. This morning i stole a 14" Target wet/dry blade for 50 bucks CDN, walked into my local acklands/grainger to pick up a couple wheelbarrow handles and saw this blade on the wall, asked what it was worth, the guy said its been here forever, make me an offer, i said 50 bucks he said sold :) Not bad since its worth $200 retail.
Thanks for the info. I cut concrete when installing decks over existing slabs. I also do drain pipe installs to the street and cut sidewalks and curbs. Thanks, Jeremy
i've been buy'n the diamond blades off ebay ... i have everything from a 45hp walk behind to hand held gas & hydro units... and chop/brick saws... and i've had good luck with every blade i've gotten off ebay... figure about $50 for most... but i did just spend $685.00 for a new bar & diamond blade for my ICS gas chainsaw... sq corners in 16" thick walls are cool but u have to pay to play

i started out with nothing... and have most of it left
I get my blades from http://www.prdiamond.com and have had very good luck with them. I have a demolition blade and a green concrete/asphalt blade that I use on a 14" Stihl. The blades sure aren't $50 but they are better than local prices and very good quality.
