What diamonds?? How come yours got diamonds and mine don't??
*It's for a different layout, 19.8 or so on center. I don't exactly know how much it is used. To be a pain in my own ass I used it once on a job. it worked fine, was an extra stud over the 24 oc I normally used and I even got insulation that fit this lay out at an insulation company.
*19 3/16" times 5 = 8'The diamonds are for marking 19 3/16" centres, for people who can't decide if they should frame at 16" or 24" centres. Used quite often for TJI floors.
*I've seen it used on floor trusses, but not much else. I think the reasoning was that the floor plywood couldn't span the 20.5" between floor trusses if they were set at 24" O.C. (which isn't true) By setting the floor trusses 19.2" O.C., the floor plywood has to span about the same distance as it would with conventional floor joists at 16" O.C.
*The 19+ oc spacing is used to maintain the live load rating of the floor system. All 3/4 T&G plywood is rated to easily span 24 oc.Blue
*The Dimonds are for truss spacing.
