I’m not sure if this is an appropriate question for this site, but I think that I can get some help here. I have a dishwasher that works fine and drains all the water out completely when a cycle is complete. After a day or two of not being used, though, it accumulates some water in the bottom of the washing compartment and quickly starts to smell funky. My first thought was that the solenoid valve that supplies water to the machine had a leak. Put on a new one, but still have the same problem. I’m guessing now that waste water from the sink and disposal are getting into the machine through the dishwasher drain tube somehow. Any ideas?

Food coloring. Raid the Easter supplies and put a few drops into the disposal with a pint of water.
*Maybe coming back the drain line. Do you have an air gap? If not is the drain line up to the bottom of the counter top?
