Anybody hook up a shop vac to a central vac system? I need to know what to use for the interface from the 12V or whatever contacts to the 110V plug for the shop vac.
Any ideas?

You need a relay that is triggered by 12 to 18 volts that have contacts rated at 300volt AC. The low voltage is run to the connectors of the vac door switches.
But check with ebay for central vacs, there are ones that are bagless and dont lose suction as the tank fills up.
I don't think a shopvac pulls nearly the vacuum that a central vac does. We had a Broan in our last house and it pulled more vacuum thru 75 feet of pipe than my shopvac does thru a 6 foot hose. It was the midsize unit, a cyclone design with no bags.
My shopvac sucks better than other centrals vac only until its filter plugs up (really quick). But it sucks water too.
