Ran across a few sites online selling polyurethane foam insulation you can spray in place yourself. As a soon to be “homeowner” contracting a general contractor to build a home for us, this seems like a potentially cost effective way to get spray foam in the new house??? The bids we got for the same product “professionally” sprayed were in the high 4 and low 5 figures.
Any opinions on the product / process would be appreciated!

I think those DIY kits are more for spot application rather than whle house installations. They have been discussed here several times. What I gathered is that they are rather pricey, and I'd be that you still couldn't DIY a whole house for cheaper than the pros. I think that one of the kit deals would be great for going around and plugging holes, etc though.
I know a bunch of foamers. Their raw materials aren't cheap. Neither is the truck to transport nor the equipment to spray. Takes a lot of time to prep and clean the equipment. There are reasons it costs as much as it does, and it's not be/c of excessive profit margins.
The kits are not suitable for a whole house if they're like the one I used.
Can you post the web sites? I'm eyeing a 13x8 space in my basement as a potential wine cellar and looking for a good insulation option. One side is already framed with 2x4, and the other one is concrete below-grade wall so I'm only looking at less than 21 linear feet of polyurethane insulation.
Google "froth pack". When you check on them, compare their cost to the minimum charge from a pro foam sprayer. Here, the min charge is $400, which was the same as my froth pack and would have given me a whole lot more of a higher quality foam.
Anyone have experience with Fomo Foam? I'd like to insulate a subroof while I've got a ceiling down, but the job is too small for the pros....
