Today I bought a more expensive paint roller than the ones on sale – I was hoping more expensive meant better. I guess not. I was up on the ceiling pulling little hairs from the paint. Do all paint rollers do this?

I've found most all do the first time. If you pitch 'em, then they're all - first time. After I've used them to perhaps do a roll coat, I've found them to be near lint free the second use (paint).
I've heard of people that have given them a good soaking, then spun them and allowed them to dry-no lint.
Some have taken masking tape and laid a few runs of that on the fresh roller, pulling loose lint off.
Maybe it's just luck, or maybe I'm simply too blind to see the hairs, but I don't ever recall having trouble with good-quality rollers -- only the cheapies in the 3-fer packages.
I've had good luck with Purdy rollers--
even in the threefer package. I haven't noticed any real problem with shedding. I don't think of Purdy rollers as terribly expensive, although I don't toss them after a single use, either.
I've also had great luck with Purdy rollers. I'd probably just rinse and spin out a roller brand with lint problems - roller spinner is a must.
I have had this problemm before but more expensive doesn't always mean that it is better. I tried taking some tape and get some of the lint off before using the rollers. hope it works.
