Do I need to Connect Handrail Around Corner of Landing

R311.7.8.2 in the residential code states:
“Continuity. Handrails for stairways shall be continuous for the full length of the flight, from a point directly above the top riser of the flight to a point directly above the lowest riser of the flight. Handrail ends shall be returned or shall terminate in newel posts or safety terminals…”
It is also my understanding that a flight of stairs is defined as a series of steps between a floor and a floor or a floor and a landing. So in my illustration, there are 2 flights of stairs, with a landing in between.
My question is, am I correct to assume that these two handrails do not have to be joined around the corner at the landing (as in red)?
It’s my understanding that I can terminate each end into the wall as shown in blue.
Do I have that correct?

Residential code will allow for this, commercial will not.
