I have a south facing room that’s all windows and gets direct sun all day. Would applying window tints cool that room down. If yes any brand recommendations.

It will help, but it's not a miracle worker. The brand I've used in the past is 3M. The darker the tint the more it helps but then you have a lighting issue. The 3M rep is usually very helpful in going over all the options. Hope this helps

It will keep it a bit cooler, but how much is the question. Is it enough to offset the cost? Is it enough to make up for the fact that the room will look dark and everyday will look cloudy outside?
I hate to cite resale value as a reason, but it could impact that too. Not everyone likes the look.
Have you considered other means of shading? Landscaping? If you look at old farms they would plant leafy trees on the south side of the house for summer shade and winter sun.
I second 3M's tints. They work great, especially regarding UV light. Be sure to tint the exterior face of the lites. Tinting the interior face will void the warranty of the window manufacturer.
