Do you buy tools for there portablity for jobs or for perminate shop use. I try to buy decent tools but always for jobs on the road. ive bought folding table saws , miter saw stands folding router tables . And now ive bought some new tools with wheels because I work alone sometimes and they lug easy. What brands do you like . Dogboy

Whaaaa? Do I have to unbolt my cordless drill from my coffee table now???..The coffee table legs make a great extension handle for hard to reach drilling jobs. I just wish it had a trigger lock.

I try to stick with Bosch whenever possible, though the quality of their tools are better when built in Europe as opposed to the far east. Makita, PC, name brand stuff that has survived the test of time (and abuse.)
We always try to set up a shop at any house we build, ideally in the garage. This is in addition to two shops at our houses. There is just too much time lost running around otherwise. Our home based shops are more used for our personal projects thoug the tools are of much better quality. If we have a lot of woodworking that requires the best tools, we do it in the shop. Other times the work is done on site. The quality of portable tools has improved tremendously in the past twenty years, though I still tote my twenty-year old Delta contractor's saw to the jobs. I just make sure that I have help to move it.
