Today I had a cement contractor pour a 28′ x 45′ driveway and two side walks for me. I just finished rolling on a coat of concrete sealer that contained mineral sprits and looked like Karo syrup. Tomorrow I will remove the forms and seal the edges along with a second coat on the top. I’m afraid the sealer will make the driveway too slick to walk on if it’s wet as the second coat will lay on top. I didn’t have the contractor broom the surface because the final trowel left a bit of a texture and the slope angle of the driveway is about one and one eighth inches in 4 feet. Anyone have experience with this type of situation?

My concrete contractor seals every pour with Rez Cure after the final finish unless I sak him not to. On exterior applications I like a lite broom finish to provide a little tooth when it's wet under foot. I would try a small section with the second top coat too test the affect on the finish and proceed from there.

Does you "cement contractor" do concrete too? :-)
Seriously though, exterior concrete normally gets a broom finish. I'm surprized the contractor agreed to that. Check with a concrete materials supply speciality store for some texturing agent that can be added to the sealer. It's a white powedery substance that is mixed in the sealer bucket. Looks like white sand, but much lighter in weight. check to see if it is compatible with the sealer you used since there are many different kinds. Exactly what was the sealer you used?
The manufacture of the sealer I used is "Conspec" they are in Kansas City, Kansas and it is called "Cure and Seal VOC". I called the concrete company where I got the sealer and they said that they didn't have anything to put in the sealer for traction, he did say that the gloss would tone down in a few days. I think I'll do a test before I apply the second coat to see how slick it is when wet.

The product I was referring to is called "QC Sure Trac" "Anti slip additive for floor coatings". It is made by QC Construction Products. The dicections say that it can be used with solvent based or water based sealers. Matt
