a few years back I read an article on maximizing remodels during winter by buying corner hardware for a geodesic dome ,using 2x2s and then covering itwith plastic.
The rewsult is a dry, wind proof work area for working through out the winter.
Does anybody know any source for this?
Thanks,

the big budget jobs around here do the pipe stage deal for the walls / staging
and roof over with temporary trusses and reinforced poly
i doubt that geodesic domes will beat that for overall cost effectiveness
me .. i think the best idea is to assume a total loss for the existing and get the new roof on and weatherproof...
the temporary enclosure only makes sense to me for masonry where you need temporary heat

I don't think that would help with your underwater carpentry.
Sorry.... couldn't resist :-)

Cool solution - thinking "inside the box" - er, "dome"

Bastid! I thought so. Will you let me off the hook if I tell you I asked Piffin for the spelling?

I really understand how to spell neurotic...in a former life I had my own supply company. One of my customer's in houston was Methodist Hospital. I got a request to supply them with several platform dollies. The new part of the hospital was known simply as Neuro. They had a problem with other departments taking their stuff and were very possessive. The things came with sealed oak on the platforms. They wanted it painted and then their name stencilled in. I had a friend who sand blasted designs in tombstones so I had him sand blast Nuero into the floor of all six. Then I got to rout it out and pay him to correct my error.
HOly smokes!

When I was building my house my footings got washed out 3 times it ticked me off so bad that I bought 3 40'x60' blue tarps and laced them together.I suspended them from the trees and build 3 24' tent poles out of 2x4.This worked great for a couple of days until a giant wind blew it down and the next day we had an icestorm.Filled every joist bay with about 12" of ice took over a week to get all the ice out and put the tarps back up.

PS I named my place black cloud and it lived up to its name every day of the 16 months it took me to build it.
WHY DO I HAVE TO EXPLAIN TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY THAT BEING A SOLE PROPRIETOR IS A REAL JOB?
