Door Brick Mould and LP SmartSide

A quick questions for the experts — I am in the process of stripping an entire house and redoing it in LP Smartside with 4” trim around the windows and doors. It seems like a dumb question when its called a “brick mould”, but I feel the need to ask it anyway! When installing my exterior doors — would I be correct in assuming to toss the brick mould and install the 4” trim directly on the end of the door jamb? Thanks in advance.

That's what I do. I use 5/4 PVC for all trim and cut a small rabbet for the siding to slide under
Thanks — interesting idea about the rabbit. Would that increase or decrease any water intrusion possibilities versus just running the siding within an 1/8” of the trim and caulking?
