I am installing new door knobs in a house which I have extensively rehabbed. I bought ” Defiant” brand today at Home Depot. The local Home Depot Man told me that they worked fine. Before I spend all the time to install 10 fixtures– should I spend the $2 more per set and buy Kwick Set? Thanks. Bill

I've never heard of Defiant and I'm not a big fan of Kwik Set
I'd spend the money and by Schlage
Thanks,
I will probably swap them out tomorrow.
Schlage
Weiser if ya gotta save a buck
Real trucks dont have sparkplugs
Thanks,
I will probably exchange them tomorrow.
Is this Q a joke?
Kwikset is the cheapest door set I know of and it is not very good. The kind that you install on a rental where you have to change locksets with every different new renter, because they only last 2-3 years.
Schlage is a decent brand for economy. I've had them onmy house for ten years.

What Pif and others said. I originally used a cheesey brand from HD called Pegasus on three exterior doors. They grenaded within two years and have been replaced with Schlage units. I think that the door hardware market is sufficiently competitive that you do get what you pay for, and it's worth it.
Scott.
Always remember those first immortal words that Adam said to Eve, “You’d better stand back, I don’t know how big this thing’s going to get.”
defient locksets are worth more as scrap metal...
Kwicksets any more aren't much better..
get Schalges...

WOW!!! What a Ride!
Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!
I've put on a lot of locks, and judging from what I read here, there must be different grades for all brands...I know Schlage has several. All the Weisers I've handled have been poop, even the less expensive Schlages have been good and seviceable. Kwicksets have been ok to good.I put big box Kwickset passage levers on my own house for most exterior doors ( yeah, I put on Schlage deadbolts<G>). 8 years later, no failures, and one door must get used 50 times a day. Now, IMO, the worst locks for the most money are Omnias...cantankerous, poorly cast pos that to be constantly fiddled with...but, they are purdy<G> Someone's got it in for me, they're planting stories in the press
Whoever it is I wish they'd cut it out but when they will I can only guess.
They say I shot a man named Gray and took his wife to Italy,
She inherited a million bucks and when she died it came to me.
I can't help it if I'm lucky.
