I plan to install lighting in some built-in cupboards. The client and I have decided on Flexilite rope lights because it can be hidden behind the faceframe of the cupboards and give discreet and soft light. What I need is a switch that will function by opening and closing the doors. The typical closet door switch is too big and an eyesore.Does anyone have any suggestions? Also, the lighting will be 120vac.The dc volt is only half the wattage so it wouldn’t be bright enough.

The size is what I had in mind but wouldn't it need to be enclosed in an electrical box to pass code?
As heard on TV..."Make it so #1.." the little box it's in is often a rubber boot type enclosure..do it as best ya can, I don't think "wire fill" standards are applicable..A lot of automated machinery have "micro switches" at line voltage vs. LVDC. Google for limit switches or micro..there are tons. It's totally doable, just needs some head scratchin.
