Drill a 4″ hole in pour concrete foundation by using 1″ drill bit
Hi All,
I tried to search but it seems I could not find an answer to this. My question is:
1. Could I use a 1″ or 1.5″ drill bit to drill a 4″ hole using SDS max into a poured concrete foundation by drilling them (3 or 4 of smaller drill holes) close to each other? This would be cheaper to buy a 4″ hole saw bit.
I know the answer would be yes and the hole won’t look pretty but it should not matter. My concern is about the concrete structural integrity.
Thanks.

Get a smaller bit. long enough to go through what you need to get through. Half inch carbide should work. make more holes. Finish them off with a chisel bit on that SDS Max in hammer mode. You might need more than one bit, depending on how thick the wall is and what they used for aggregate in the concrete mix.
the integrity will depend on the spacing of this hole to the edges of the concrete
Thank you.
For $50.00 you can rent an SDS and a 4" concrete hole saw and do the hole the neat, easy way. Or for $300.00 you could hire a concrete cutter sub to do it all.
Ok. Thank you.
