This isn't like corner clips for fastening board to adjacent framing, but it would do what you want and supposedly, make taping easier. http://www.ezbacker.com/butthanger.html

I made my own butthangers for a ceiling job recently. I just used some 5/8" X 12" strips of plywood with 1/8" shims running down each edge. It worked out really well for hiding the butt joint, but it did take me a bit more time to spackle.
By the way, what's a g.w.b.? (and don't tell me George W. Bush).

That's funny Don.
Why do you want to put clips on the butt of g.w.b.?
Tom This connection would eliminate the need for one cut and reduce waste. Also it provides somewhat of a recess for finishing.

Don G.W.B stands for gypsum wall board. thanks for response however not the solution Iwas looking for.
I picked up some called butt backers from a drywall supply house. They were pretty cheap - about $2 each. They worked great on the 1/2" but not quite as well on the ceiling 5/8".
I am not familiar with the clips either but would sugggest ripping some 1/2" plywood into strips and screw through the drywall into the ply to create a backer at each free joint.
This should provide a fairly cheap and easy way to remedy your prob.
