What is the best drywall texturing tool for a small homebuilder/remodeler? I normally do custom furniture and home offices in my part time woodworking business, but I am planning on building a new home this summer, as well as acquiring the neighboring lots and building two more homes for sale. I will need to do popcorn ceiling texture as well as orange peel wall texture. I want a tool with enough quality that it will provide a professional job without lots of hassle, but the tool won’t be in daily use. I have a contractors pancake compressor that runs my nailers.
Thanks,
Indian Creek Woodworks.

Why would you be doing popcorn on something new? It is so 1970's.
*Get one of those Goldblatt texture sprayers with the hopper and have some fun.
*My drywall sub for my previous remodel&sell projects always put a popcorn finish on the ceilings! Didn't really question it, the houses always sold fast, as I have a reputation for being more concerned with selling a quality remodel, rather than making every possible dollar in profit. Based on other replies, I am looking at the Goldblatt hopper gun, what other ceiling textures should I consider? Thanks,Indian Creek Woodworks.
*I always work in old houses so smooth is my only choice. I've gotten good enough at taping that it is no huge ordeal to sand the ceiling. On what little new stuff I've done lately we did that knock down splatter and thats what everybody around here uses in new houses. It looks pretty good. The goldblatt hopper works for that- I had guys here tell me how to do it: check the archive. This is just my opinion, but when I see any kind of texture on walls in residential I think LAZY.
