Hello All,
Well, I had thought about doing the drywalling in my basement as a one-man DIY project, but I give up. I’m happily sitting here in a good state of humbleness. There isn’t really any way that I can think of in terms of convenience as a one-man show. If I had but a second pair of hands, sure, but its not easy lifting sheets into place and holding them there with one hand while reaching for the screw gun.
So, with this in mind, I am looking for drywallers that would glue & screw the rock, mud and tape, sand, and repeat, and haul away the trash. I’ve taken the liberty of measuring all the rooms for their L, W, and H, and rounded UP to the nearest foot. All but two rooms will have drywall ceilings, too. Here are the figures:
Theater Room: 27’L x 13’W x 8’H (640 SqFt Wall, Tiled Ceiling)
Main Room: 22’L x 15’W x 9’H (666 SqFt Wall, 330 SqFt Ceiling)
Game Room: 18’L x 15’W x 9’H (594 SqFt Wall, 270 SqFt Ceiling)
Bar Room: 16’L x 12’W x 8’H (448 SqFt Wall, Tiled Ceiling)
Bathroom: 8’L x 8’W x 8’H (256 SqFt Wall, 64 SqFt Ceiling)
Hall: 7’L x 5’W x 9’H (216 SqFt Wall, 35 SqFt Ceiling)
Total: 640+666+320+594+270+448+256+64+216+35 = 3509 SqFt.
Please note that some of the elevations vary between 8′ and 9′ because of soffets that I am doing out of MDF. I am looking for bid & references, preferably on the $/SqFt scheme, but will take $$$ bids for the entire job, too. All rooms except the theater room can be 1/2″, but I am looking for 5/8″ in the theater.
If I’ve posted this in error (such as in the wrong forum, etc.), please do accept my apologies.

Your bid is 4 times the best bid I got and 3 times the worse.
Are you saying that you got a bid for approximately $20.50 per 4x8 sheet of rock, and that includes all materials?: delivery, moving rock to rooms, screws, glue, rock, tape, compound and a minimum level 3 finish? Now I know my bid is high, and I probably would be more close to about $7,500.00+, but the work my guys do is exceptional, very clean, and I defy anyone to find a seam, but your bid appears to be very low for what you are asking. Sorry, I got them to give bids in terms of per square foot, whether that's for putting it on a wall or ceiling. Actually, I was a little low on the first bid, sorry. 3509 square-feet is the measured area, rounded-up to the nearest foot. One quote was for $0.70/square-foot and the other was $1.00/square-foot. Thus, 3509x$0.70=$2456, and 3509x$1.00=$3509.
$20.50 per 4x8 sheet is the same as $20.50/32-square-feet=$$0.64/square-foot. The quotes I got were for labor & materials, glue & screw, mudding/taping & sanding, and waste removal. I now labor costs can be of significant range from one part of the country to the next, but I'm assuming you're in my neck of the woods or why bother replying (unless it was meant as a joke).
The second bid I got ($1.00/square-foot) also offered a labor-only bid of $1,650 and explained it would be one day to hang, 2-days (two separate days) for finish work. Still, $2.14/square-foot is twice the second highest bid (yours being the highest), and three times the lowest.
Woodrow,
If you knew the area of 30096 then you would understand why his prices are so low. "Don't take life too seriously, you are not getting out of it alive"
