I think I want to bite the bullet and insulate the ductwork in my basement. The return duct is so close to the supply I thought about just wrapping both.
Any suggestions?

Unless your duct work runs along an outside wall, or the basement isn't conditioned, I don't see the point, heat rises you know ..
They should be separated.
