Dumpster fees in your area

SteveInCleveland | Posted in Business on March 1, 2008 05:38am

Just curious what you pay for dumpster rental in your area?

Here in Cleveland, I can fill a 40 yard dumpster: total fees, including tax & delivery, (use it for about one month) for $ 415.00.

30 yard dumpster is $ 330.00.

I'm using a 12 yd. on the Money Pit project.

    35.00 per month container rental

    215.00 for every dump

Around 20.00 per ton overage beyond 6 tons

20 yard (our favorite size) for $375, including all fees. We can put up to four tons in that rate, overload tons are $45 each.

We can keep it as long as we like.

In Illinois 10 yard - $275 12 yard $325 16 yard - $350 20 yard $400 30 yard $450 and a 40 yard $500. I can also get a 20 yard for $225 for Concrete Only. The company I work with recycles all in the box they can at their own recycling facility. I have a feeling they make a killing.

  11. restorationday | Mar 01, 2008 05:45pm | #12

$400 for a 40 yard for up to 6 weeks for normal fill i.e. not a lot of concrete.
For heavy fill you pay a rental fee and than a per ton dump fee though I haven't priced that in a couple years so I don't know the cost.

        Stephen,

I'd say thats a great value  -- you must have 1.5 to 2 ton on a load of debris I'd guess.

        1. Hazlett | Mar 23, 2008 01:25pm | #31

well- i think when i bought it i figured I could put in about 34 square.I haven't put in more than about 16 square so far( still getting used to it)
typically I won't put in more than 25 square
and i still need to extend the sides up a bit further.I bought a smaller trailer--based on i wanted to be able to manuever it into tight places and the fact that we do mostly smaller houses.saw a lot of texas boys up here last summer with BIG old trailers--they had to park em at the street cause they couldn't get 'em in the driveways here( which sort of defeats the purpose of having them).I used to have a better value---a recycle center about 4 minutes from my house---charged me , I think $40 to dump--they shredded the shingles-magneted out the nails--and theoretically sold the shredded shingles as paving base.
city shut them down( 1 theory being the mayor is tight with the wrecking company that owns the dump we now have to use---2nd theory being the recycle center sitsabout 50 feet from a canal towpath which is being re-developed into a bike/hike facility-----piles of shingles not scenic!)

            Stephen,

What size did you get   6' x 12' ? And rated for 7000 lbs.?

          2. Hazlett | Mar 23, 2008 01:49pm | #33

            walter-lemme check herelet's see 6'2"x 10'
            9900# GVWR
            7649# capacity
3.88 cubic yardsit is a deck-over which raised the height but saved a lot of width and lets me get in tighter spots.
i am not real happy with the dealer
and if i did it again i might try harder to go with a different brand--but the brand i wanted wasn't as locally available
also- i paid a bit extra to get it in a forest green--the sample they showed me was a close match to my new truckthe trailer as delivered was more John Deere green------20/20 hind sight-- I should have just got it in blackI don't plan on maxing it out weight-wise----among other reasons i have to pull it UP a pretty nasty hill to dump it.all in all- i am very satisfied with it--but I was expecting to be happierand--it is just a dump trailer--it's purpose is to earn--and it does THAT.

            Stephen,

Thats good you got the larger weight capacity unit.

I bought a slightly used 6x10 but only 7000 GVW a number of years ago and have very happy with it. I haul it with a crew cab with 8' bed , so I know what it's like to navigate into driveways !!

This comes up periodically, and I have all you guys beat badly.

      Self-haul is .13 per pound. That's $260 per ton.

Currently have a 2-yard dumpster at my jobsite. Paid about $25 to have it delivered, pay about $15/mo in rent. Each pickup is $50, unless the driver has to strain the hydraulics to pick it up, in which case it's $85. I'm averaging about $300/mo on that bill.

A 30-yard box runs about $250 to drop off and pick up, plus a token amount for rent. We get a little break on the tonnage rate, about $200 per. You can get 6 tons in those before they can't pick them up. I've seen the truck stand up on its rear wheels to get the box back on, and that will generally mean a bill ranging from $800-1000.

All garbage is hauled off this island by ferry, then down to a landfill in Eastern Oregon. Who thinks THAT will still be affordable after a few more rounds of fuel price increases?

      1. timkline | Mar 01, 2008 11:40pm | #22

6 tons makes their trucks pop wheelies ?

        pansymobiles.

i think our record was $1300 for one can.

figure $250 for delivery, that leaves $1050 for the tonnage, and that can was about 8 years ago at $65 ton, so that's  about 16 tons.

and i'm pretty sure that carrier used to spot us 3 tons free on top of that.

15yd. for 7 days = $325 for 3 tons, $65 each additional ton.  Humboldt County, CA, and it trucks up to somewhere in Oregon.
