We remodeled our bathroom about 14 months ago and installed an Americast tub and sink. We recently noticed that the area near the drain has what appears to be many little cracks in the surface giving it a dull appearance. The area is about 14 inches along the length of the tub, and about 5 inches wide. The area also holds a small amount of water, which never drains. American Standard is acting like we installed it improperly, but the instructions say nothing about special support under the center of the tub. Since we did a nice job tiling the floor and surround we aren’t excited about the prospects of a new tub.
Has anyone had a similar/different experiences?
As a side. I personally do not care for the look/feel of the Americast, which seems artificial, but is OK. It’s a personal preference on that one. If you use it, you should protect it well. It chips somewhat easily (a dropped ceramic tile made it around the cardboard and blankets), and repairs are not invisible (but not bad). There don’t seem to be any issues with the sink.
Thanks in advance.
