Fred,
We used them for a Pau Lope deck about this time last year. Looked great when it was done, but I've heard rumors about Eb-Ty failures. Something about the plastic not holding up for the long run. I'd check it out if I were you. Simpson makes a good hidden deck fastener. We just finished a teak deck using those. Worked just fine, and they won't breakdown over the years because they are galvanized metal.
Good Luck,
Ed.
*cool idea, very time consuming. more like building cabinets than decking.
*Fred, Check out Pro-Dek's thread in the gallery (titled something like "Ironwood Deck"). He doesn't like them, I don't think.Jon
*Gacc, You used simpson deck ties on a Teak deck? No problems and it looks good? Can you post a picture of the deck on Gallery? I know EB-TY is made of high density polypropelene, and has a 100 year life span. I have yet to see galvanized products get past installation and keep those qualities. I would have to stick with polypropelene and stainless steel for longevity just out of common sense.
*Eberle,Look in this section under the heading "Finger Joints". I've posted some pictures there.Ed.
