Well I guess you don’t have to try every newfangled thing that comes along….
I just spent all day putting in about 12 deck boards with Eb-ty fasteners. Is there a more expensive ,frustrating, slow way to put in decking?
What a PIA!!!
Anybody got any tricks with these crappy plastic expensive things?
Will they really hold decking down in a good blow? like a force 2 hurricane???
This is one time an old dog could care less about new tricks…..

Where you biscuiting each spot individually or did you just rout a groove the whole length? That's a much faster way. Buying pre-grooved is even faster.
Besides that what did you find slow about it? What's your other method? I've predrilled and used SS nails or screws; seems like the time is all about the same (except for the time to rout a groove).
Biscuit on each spot....decking is already there and not grooved.
I guess i like working above with screws, had to be on the knees alot to cut the biscuits. I did have a better day today....kinda prefit the boards, then marked the lines and cut the grooves bigger, it made for more play and seemed to go a little better.
Still kinda irritated at the process though....Seems like alot of $ for plastic biscuits and SS screws.
Get a slot bit for the router..zip the whole pile up on horses. Much mo better.Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks

I used Eb-ty's on my ipe deck last year. Since ipe is not very common in my area(I contacted 6 lumber yards and only one of them could get it for me) I could not get pregrooved boards. The deck is 32 feet wide, all my boards were 18 foot in length. I had my biscuit jointer right beside the miter saw stand, the slot cutting was not a big deal. A shop vac was attached to the saw and the biscuit jointer to catch as much of the nasty dust as possible. It was a time consuming installation but it was worth it in the end, I would do it again. Dontcha see those ugly little clips down there between the boards?

If you are down on your knees really looking you'll see them but they definately do not stand out as long as the boards are gapped correctly.

Don't try TigerClaw on synthetic decking if you're looking for a better method, even more of a pain in the neck.

No, unless you go on your knees and look for them. Under the ipe I have pond liner to keep the deck underside dry, makes for a good storage place. Kinda like http://www.dekdrain.com
