These are my first two big DIY projects. I could not stomach a Homer Depot premade shed for 2K plus. This one was done with hardiboard and cedar shingles, which were coated with Cabots bleaching oil. The dang roof was a pia and cost way too much. I used a hipped roof to bring down the roofline as our lot is really small.
The railing was all too many angles. The lattice had to be spliced on the diagonals to keep the lattice going the same way on all panels. Not a wise choice on my part. The clematis on the lattice and the caulk on the shed hide the mistakes!

Did you keep track of your costs? Willing to share the total with us? Did you use puplished plans or draw it yourself?
Thanks all. I used plans from a Family Handyman(groan!)magazine from a couple of years ago. It was for shed/garage with dormer. I just extrapolated what I liked from the plan and ditched the rest.
I did not keep full track of the plans, but a large part of the cost was pouring a pad. My neighbor is about 2.5 feet higher than I am and I already had a block retaining wall on his side except where the shed went. So the pad starts with the driveway and goes back to the line, then up two feet or so and butts up to the wall. The footprint is 6' x 10', about $1100 for concrete and labor from a neighbor. You can pencil in studs at 16 on center, hardiboard for about 150 square feet of coverage. I used t-111 against the fence as it does not show. The grim part was the shingles. The roof with hips is about 8 x 12. I had so damn many cedar splinters. And they all have to be cut at the ridge........ So figure about 120 square feet of cedar shingles. The door was a scavenge. I think I went a little over 2K plus the purchase of the chop saw.
My neighbors were remodeling their kitchen at the time and had old old old steel cabinets. I hung them inside and are great as they resist all the chemicals.
The old shed had a sloping roof towards the fence line, so the front was about 9' hi. Very ugly and cavernous to have in the yard. The money for the shingles was so that I did not have to look at asphalt shingles. The appeal of the overhang is Seattle weather.
