good day. i just noticed a significant amount of efflorescence on the basement floor along a crack. actually, along three cracks. our area is well known to real estate agents as the high water town. everyone has a sump pump in the basement and many have two. i have two, and have noticed that they are not kicking in as much as usual. two of these cracks are new. the house was raised and a full basement was dug out and set back down on new footings and block foundation, this was done over ten years ago. the basement has always been dampish, but i have never seen any standing water or wetness on the floor, or walls.
the foundation was not treated on the outside, the contractor just wrapped it with some funky fibreglass material that had a tar-like facing on it. it was about 3/4″ thick. i have dug up two sides of the house and put one inch blue styrofoam and the dimple membrane on the foundation. what would cause any water to suddenly stop going to the sump pits? they have worked perfectly up until a month or so ago? also, is anyone familiar with a material that gets sprayed on the bare block wall, and then hardens and crystallizes in the block to form a water barrier?

The efflorescence you describe is fairly normal for a damp basement slab, and nothing to worry about.
Water would stop going into the sump because either the water table has dropped or something has blocked the tile lines.
