I have two Makita circular saws, one has an electric brake while the other spins on forever. They are 5007NBA and 5007NB. Can a brake be put on a saw. The housings are identical. What makes them stop in the first place.

The "brake" is a surge of current applied to reverse the motor. Sounds easy, but it's not.
*PhillThanks for your reply. I stopped by an electric/tool supplier on the way home tonight and ask the same question. They thought that a different switch might be used at first but went ahead and called Makita. The rep there said something about changing the field, magnetic I guess. Anyway there is more to it than a simple switch. I guess you never know unless you ask.
*to really find out, you need the exploded view and parts list for both and then you can see which parts are changed.
*Just use your thumb.
*It's getting to short and the customers are complaining about my choice of stain color.
