I’ve got a mason scheduled to install brick veneer in a little over a week. This is part of a major remodeling job. I haven’t roughed in the wiring yet and I’m puzzled about how to properly mount the electrical boxes for the porch lights and exterior receptacles. I know there will be an air gap between the brick veneer and sheathing, but I can’t be sure exactly how to mount the boxes so that the cover plates and/or fixtures will fit properly when all is said and done. What’s the best way to go about this?

A-holes. Hey every group has to have one. And I have been elected to be the one. I should make that my tagline.
you give the mason a metal box and he mortar it in the brick
the box is hanging from the wall on a length of wire so you tell the mason where you want it to end up & he takes care of installing it in the brick work
ps: remember the doorbell wires , hard to get in later
What you said.
Beer was created so carpenters wouldn't rule the world.
the boxes are normally hanging from a length of wire approximately in the area where they will finally end up so you just tell the mason of your intended final location & he takes care of the rest
remember the doorbell wires
