This is my second posting to this site. You folks were so helpful the 1st time I hope I can successfully tap your brains again. I just recently noticed that my mud room overhead light does not work. Wait a minute–does not work consistently. I tested the voltage coming through the line and there was no reading at all. The light fixture and bulb work fine. The other light (outside door light) works with no problem. They are both connected to the same switch.
After I was done playing around with the defective light I connected it back and the light then worked. At this moment it does not work. The only variable I can think of is that I have recently been watering my lawn trying to get new seed to grow (watering via a sprinkler every day). I bought the house in November so this is the first time I have been consistently watering. To the best of my knowledge I don’t think the light has gone out after a good rain.
For some reason could this be causing the light to go out and works only after it dries out. If so, how does one protect against this happening? What should I look for? If this is most likely not the problem what else could it be? I did not see anything wrong with the visible part of the cable.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Dave
