I am installing custom cabinets above an existing vanity unit. The centered mirror will be flanked with the cabinets(fitted up to ceiling) and bridged with a valance. My client wants the low volt halogens (mini cans?) installed in the underside of the valance.I will not be doing any of the electrics but i need to know the reccommended clearance needed to avoid excessive heat build up in the valance. Currently the desing allows for an eight inch high ,forty inch wide and 10 inch deep void behind the valance .
The lights are off the shelf home depot 5 x 10w with a transformer. will i need to make provision to vent this void?
any help / advice is greatly appreciated
Thanks
Colin

Ask YOUR electrician. They are the ones ultimately responsible. BTW if you had used an Electrical supplier worth their salt... you coulda asked them. Dont bother asking HD...they dont know.
