When drywall was added the electrial boxes are now a 1/2 recessed. There is enough wire to pull them out but I can’t find longer boxes.
The boxes used now are something like bakelite, a brown hard plastic, with little “wings” that open when tighten. The screws aren’t long enough and I’ve tried “adding” longer screws with no luck.
Any ideas are welcome for the dyi-er.

Most electrical supply stores have a plastic spacer that comes in 3/8" and 1/2" depths that extend the box. There are also metal box spacers used in commercial work. Use the spacers, faster, cheaper but also saves you the removal time. DanT
