engineered flooring on open tread stairs

HI all.
I’m putting new engineered maple flooring (Kahrs) upstairs and would like to match my stairs to that floor. I’m using flooring that is self-locking and floating. Is it reasonable to use it on the stairs as well? I assume I’d glue it in place and place an edging around the edges for the bullnose. Any thoughts on any of this?

If the stairs are carpeted now, it might be a good idea to pull up a corner and see exactly what wood the treads are made of. How are you planning to deal with skirts and risers?
The only trouble with moulding on the edge of a tread is, it takes a beating. It might look good for a few months, but what will it look like 5 yrs from now? What will it look like to a prospective buyer if you sell your house?
The long term solution is to install new harwood treads finished the same as your flooring. Not an inexpensive option, and much more technical than laying a floor, but will increase the beauty and value of your home.

Go for the square edge/flush nosing. Kahrs has several styles. Overlap never looked good on steps in my opinion, and they can be a trip hazard. I agree with the solid tread idea and Maple treads aren't as hard to find as some of the other species Kahrs offers.
