Maybe the HO is one of those Indian Fakirs that lays on a bed of nails?
If you used screws, could you have used less
or would you have needed more?
If he used screws instead, the connection would have been so strong he would have slowed the rotation of the earth.Rebuilding my home in Cypress, CA
Also a CRX fanatic!
wouldn't that depend which way they were threaded and whether they were driven in the north or southern hemisphere, as well as the speed at which they were driven and whether driven with an Americcan made driver or not?
Welcome to the Taunton University of Knowledge FHB Campus at Breaktime. where ... Excellence is its own reward!
Lots of nails, but they'd have to fill in a few more to meet code, of course. Section 2.4.18 states that you have to keep hammering in nails "until the plate splits into four (4) independent pieces."
Is Iceland missing a carpenter?
Yea, I think they used enough... When I see a guy doing that I say: Hey, don't get too carried away with the nails, you are making the house too heavy and it's fall down... :-)
Seriously though, I have heard some say that hand drive nails are better than gun nails. Thing is though, human nature being what it is, there always ends being a lot more gun nails used than hand drives, so the extra hand drive strength due to shank diameter or whatever is at least equaled if not exceeded by gun nails.
" I have heard some say that hand drive nails are better than gun nails."
yeah I once worked for this lunatic union carp ( helped him on his house) had a perfectly good nail gun sitting right there, wouldn't use it for that reason.
Looks like a lunch time contest, who can slam a nail in with the least amt of blows.
but no welcome. Below was a welcoming planet.
There, contained in the thin, moving, incredibly fragile shell of the biosphere is everything that is dear to you,
all the human drama and comedy. That's where life is; that's were all the good stuff is.

yeah from hammering overhead too...it was a top plate assembly.
Those nails look a little short, that's why it was so easy to pull out.

Yes some are short, there is a mix of the short hand nails ( galv I think) and 3" gun nails.
it pulled out so easy cuz it was nailed to ceiling drywall... put enough nails in it will hold eh...lol
Looks like somebody had as much confidence in nails as I do.
I took a piece of base up the other day to install some cabinets and in a 12' piece I counted 42 nails! Some, or a lot, were where the guy couldnt find the studs but hell, when is enough.
I always contend that if a guy was nailing by hand there'd never be anywhere near the amount of nails in a house.

I have seen carpenters nail a roof more than every 2" at two different places, one near UCLA and the other in San Pedro.
Next door was the girls dorm.
The other had a lady who propped up her legs on her balcony. I asked the guys if she was good looking, they did not recall.
Alrightythen: This looks like something I did when I was a kid about 8 years old while helping my Dad. To get me out of his hair for awhile I would be told to go nail something and don't stop until I was told to. Sometimes I would spend hours nailing boards and flooring. I guess that's how I got my start in the building business. Thanks for the memories.

when my 6 year old wants to help and i got nothing for him, ( he actaully is a good helper for 6 YO, a real go at it kid) he takes his hammer and nails and goes at it. or I clamp a board for him to cut and he goes at it with his hand saw.
Good for your son and also Good for You.
