We’re currently building my partner’s house, and he’s set on getting doors like these: http://s3.amazonaws.com/finehomebuilding.s3.tauntoncloud.com/app/uploads/2019/01/26084316/jk9.jpg.
Does anybody know of a place (other than the one in the link AND nick’s building supply) that sells such doors at REASONABLE $$$?
TIA

Thanks for your comment, but as they say "listening (or in this case) reading IS A SKILL". You didn't answer my question!!!!
Just so there is no further misunderstanding...
- I know that the place I linked sells these doors SUPER CHEAP! They are, however, located in Indonesia...
- I know that nick's building supply sells almost identical door for almost twice as much.
- I called couple places and they want $10K+ for the door....
So to repeat my question... Does anybody know of a place that sells this door at a REASONABLE price. $5K or so -> reasonable... $10K+ - pipe dream.

Gotta ask, "So, how much is shipping from Indonesia?" If the door set is $1000 FOB Jakarta, and space on the next CONEX to the States is $1000, a common carrier probably wouldn't be another $500 to IL. That's $2500, which is cheaper than your target of $5000.
The crazy bolivian I worked for last year ordered his fancy doors direct from the PRC, and was startled to pay about $1500 in shipping (or about as much as his doors totaled to). Mind you, he'd spend $20 to pick up a dime, crowing about the 10¢ gain.Occupational hazard of my occupation not being around (sorry Bubba)
Well, the shipping is actually VERY reasonable... The door itself is $2375 and the shipping would be between $550 and $750 (dock vs door).
The only unknown thing is the cost of insulated glass cut to size...

Oh, that, that's easy, why dinja say that first?
That answer is easy--outrageous. Curved insulating glass will just about be a one-off, no matter who does it.
I'll admit I didn't notice that the frames were empty of glass in the picture. That complicates things. More than a bit.
If you have a $5k sort of budget, print out the image and ask around the custom carpenters or door shops locally. Might be that they have done something similar, and know the answers ahead of time.Occupational hazard of my occupation not being around (sorry Bubba)
A while ago, I had to replace glass in an arched window. The cost wasn't THAT outrageous, but it was somewhere in the $200-$300 range. I'm guessing we should be able to get the regular insulated glass for ~$1K which would still make this an excellent purchase.
I would be checking the local door and millshops if i were you. I would also be expecting to pay over seven grand with glass

Nobody wants to talk to someone with an attitude, StanG. If someone was generous enough to offer a response, you could receive it more graciously, even if it wasn't what you hoped for.
Hammer, Hammer, Hammer... Did you get to read the response before it was deleted?
I ask a simple question and in response I get a lesson on how we're trying to get someting for nothing, and we should buy what we can afford, etc... You do know what happens when people A$$-U-ME things, right???
Oh, and to make my original post clear - the door is for my BUSINESS partner's home :)

Although I didn't get to read post #2, I do sense an attitude here. May be his reply was a bit harsh but there is no need for the A$$-U-ME and BUSINESS partner thing.
The A$$-U-ME has to do with the fact the the posted assumed something that was quite incorrect.
The partner thing.... Just making sure we're clear that this is BUSINESS not lifestyle.... :)

The post was deleted. People are rarely discourteous here, except in the Tavern. Perhaps it's your writing style but the lesson on reading seemed to express some impatience on your part. Nobody gets paid or is screened for their knowledge on this forum, you have to take the wheat with the chaff. I don't understand why a business purchase would be any different than a HO looking for the same information. People don't respond well to someone that sounds like they are in a snit. I don't think I'm alone in my impression of your response. Even if the post was inappropriate, there is no reason for you to follow suit. There is plenty of disagreement on this site, we just try to be respectful.Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
Hammer,
He's right, I posted an attitude laden post (while taking a break from a $htty morn) and deleted it shortly (about 5 min, I think) thereafter. Unfortunately, he read and responded before I undid (deleted) my bad. Apolgies to StanG.
No problem! I overreacted as well... We were going through closing on a spec we just finished and the buyers kept nickle-and-diming us to death!!!! AAAAAHHHHH!!! Never again sell a spec before it's finished!!!!!!
Try this place my doors I thought were reasonable

Hey StanG,
Try Scobis, at http://www.scobis.com.
They are in St. Louis.
I know a guy that works for them. He says that their entry doors start at $8K, on up.
But you never know...
Have you dealt with this company before? If so would you recommend them?
Their prices seem very reasonable but then one must consider the quality of the product - how does it compare with others?
We purchased one of the craftsman style entry doors with two sidelites. The door was prehung with hardware installed. I chose not to have it finished so I could save some money.
The door was shipped on time, it was crated well, and arrived with no damage. The leaded glass looks real nice. I recall everything costing between $2,300. to $2,500, this was a reasonable price for what we got.I feel their product is good quality, I read in American Bungalow Magazine some of their doors are produced overseas and the glass is manufactured here, this probably keeps their costs lower. I will try to post a picture.
That is some entry! Beautiful!
Very nice! Thanks for the response. It seems like all the web sites just give you the sales pitch but never cover the things like the transom, weather stripping, etc. - the stuff I really want to know. So a bit of first hand experience is appreciated.

I owe you an ice cold one Stan. Timbo admits a temporary lapse in decorum. There's no shortage of stand up folks here at Breaktime.

I'll take you up on that :)
There is a very similiar one on the first page of http://www.nicksbuilding.com.
Sells for $5895 unfinished. $800 for finishing.
Yeah, we've purchased a door from them and that's where my friend saw the door in question :)
I decided to take a chance and bid on this door (the same company from Malaysia).

I figured $2350 + shipping (~$750) + glass (regular insulated ~$1000 or so should be doable)... Should be ~$4K... If it doesn't work out, we'll have learned an expensive lesson :)
