FHB had an article on the installation of EPDM for roof top decks in January 1998.
I also couldn’t find anyone in California that sells the EPDM sheeting.
I bought my EPDM sheeting from a company that advertises every month in FHB. The company’s name was Resource Conservation Technology in Baltimore, MD.
They glued a 14′ X 10′ sheet of EPDM together for me plus sold me the glue, rubber caulking, uncured rubber for corners, and aluminum termination strips all for about $375.00. That includes the $45.00 UPS freight to Redwood City, CA. Because they had a one week backlog of orders, it took 2 weeks from the time I placed the order until it arrived at my door step.
No roofing contractor would bid my job. They said my job was too small and not worth their time. I had no trouble installing it myself and have no leaks. I also used free floating duck boards just like the FHB article recommended.

EPDM is often used to line fish ponds and other types of water gardens. I would try a pond supply company. It they cannot supply the material in the size you need, they should be able to tell you who can.

Does anyone know of a supplier in California, central valley area (Stockton, Fresno) who carries EPDM sheeting, glue etc. I haven't found a single company yet, (using the yellow pages). I've read a lot about the stuff and it seems perfect for my 8x14' patio set into and below the roof plane. It's sloped with corner drains, but is located over interior space. It will be finished with floating paving or duckboards. If you have any better ideas please write.
thanks, David
*I have a similar roof deck - walls on all sides - and used Hypsam - now called Quik-Ply I believe. Very easy to work with and no leaks in 5 years. Make sure you prime the deck and use the specified underlayment - well nailed. I had to do a section over because I listened to the counter man and skipped that step the first time.
