Has anyone had any experience with EPDM as a shower pan liner, or at least heard of any reasons good or bad why it should/should not be used?

A couple of concerns...a shower pan liner will be subjected to a few things...microorganisms, a high-alkali environments, the possibility of caustic cleaning solutions leaching through the tile structure, etc. While EPDM is pretty inert, you just never know if over time it could oxidize or craze from long-term exposure in this environment.
These may be minor points, but if you're going to use this material regularly in this fashion, in other people's houses, your safest bet is to get the "OK" from the manufacturer. Call the 1-800 number and ask. Tech reps are pretty easy to get a "yea" or "nay" reply from when it comes to using their products in certain situations.
It'd be a pity if a seemingly minor material substitution you made today came back to haunt you a few years down the road.
If you do get an answer from the manufacturer, go ahead and repost here. I'm always up for learning and I'd like to know what feedback they give you.
