I’ve been hanging cedar shingles on the gables of my shop and house without a shingle hammer, then decided to get one. I can’t find any info on it. How exactly do you use the stop guage? It says it’s for 4″,5 and 5 3/8″ exposure. So how do I use this thing? I’m sure I can figure it out, but wanted to see if there was someone knowledgeable on this topic.

The adjustable gauge hooks on the preceding coarse bottom, the face of the head is the bottom of your next shingle......
Makes total sense once you said that. Thanks, 'preciate it.
