Has anyone had any experience with EveryContractor and their Preferred Contractor service? It is basically a service giving solid job leads, guaranteeing a return for what amounts to be a nealy 7% commission. It gives me a little queasy feeling, but may be an answer to some of the ills in Michigan. We are working, but not doing jobs to our strength, and am looking for input on any experience with them or similar outfits.

I get calls from an outfit called Servicemagic all the time. I have never really looked into it. Sounds similar.

My experience with .com lead generation services; ServiceMagic etc. has been very poor.
Kowboy is up in MI isn't he ? I think he's mentioned some success with Service Magic.
I'm heading in for the nite, I'll dig around for our Service Magic stats in the morning.........
Naive but refreshing !
What do you mean 7% commission?

I'm in MI, haven't heard of it yet..Long as we're on the subject - anybody deal with Angie's list? From what I understand, it's a contractor rating service, but I'm not sure if it also represents an opportunity in terms of getting yourself in their listings.JT
Angie's List is a public rating service. I am very leery of these type of ratings. My wife sells on ebay and amazon.com, and the potential for abuse is huge. Typically, unethical people will use their power of public rating to try to extort free or discounted merchandise, or just to spread their vitriol.View Image “Good work costs much more than poor imitation or factory product†– Charles GreeneCaliforniaRemodelingContractor.com
For a certain investment, say $3500, they guarantee you $52,500 of signed work for a period of 3 months. For the next three months you can do it again, and again. There are differing levels, but this is the one they are pushing for me.
I have used Service Magic, and got one solid lead in two years, but it was a good one for a 1.5M custom. If EveryContracor was the same, I would run. Most of the leads were looking to find out prices, or to check someone they already planned to hire, or would not let me even meet with them. This Preferred Contractor program promises that they will work with the leads and get them signed with you, guaranteeing the amount promised. However, once fooled, I am very cautious to try anything similar.
If anything sucks more, i've yet to see it.
I went with them last year. I got the minimum promised, one lead a month.
I answered every lead they gave me and the only one to schedule an appointment with me was last week. I have to write a proposal this weekend.
If this job turns out making me 3 million dollars I still would never give Everycontractor another dime.
Rather see you turn to Heroin than them.
BTW i'm in Michigan too.
7% seems high, for our industry.
