I’m in the process of remodeling a bathroom which will include replacing the old exhaust fan. Upon removing the cover on the fan, I noticed that there was no duct. This bathroom is in a basement but the exterior wall is above grade. If I run the vent out through the exterior wall it will terminate on the ledger board for the roof over the deck — I’m guessing that is why the duct wasn’t run in the first place. The customer fortunately has handled several change orders in a positive manner. This one will be more involved including getting through the brick and trying to terminate above that roof.
Question: The bathroom is 16 sf, toilet, and vanity –no shower or tub. Can the fan be exhausted into the ceiling and not outside?
Maybe I’ll terminate it under the roof . . . fresh country air while sitting around the barbi.
Thanks all for your help
Dave

ya, realized that after seeing bunch of folks posting to the old threads.
Guess people got use to seeing the bump and take it for granted.
So now for penance I have to go thru and bump the recent posts since AndyFew has split the scene.
be so sorry, Uncle Albert
