Expansion Tank for Electronic Hot water

Hello,
In Columbia, MD, I realize that by code I am required to add an expansion tank for my electric hot water heater.
Is there a requirement for a specific size?
I think within the next 6 – 8 months I will need to change my hot water heater.
What size of expansion tank do I need for the present and future?

The ones that I use are about the size of a basketball. Works on all of the tankless that I have used.
Go to the Website for WellXtrol. Their site has a free calculator that figures how big of a tank you'll need based on size (in gallons) of your tank, and how much temperature rise you expect. It will spit out the needed acceptance capacity of the expansion tank and which model will meet it.
